Ways to Stay Busy- Education

I really enjoy learning.

I have a bachelor's degree and I work in a biomedical engineering lab at a major university. My background is in biology and chemistry, but with I work with computers on a daily basis. When I say I work with computers I do not just mean the ordering, email, and research that goes on daily. I mean the data collection, analyzing, and modelling that we do to make scientific discoveries.

Now, I am no novice when it comes to computers. In fact, my job while in college was as a computer repair woman. I can take any computer apart and put it back together and I can do a lot of software repairs as well, but I never learned to write software. Luckily, my husband's cousin posted something on Facebook last week.A free computer science course with coding and certification!

This course is provided through edx.org. This is just one of over 100 free courses available that are provided by major universities (Harvard, MIT, Cornell...no joke)! Some of the courses are self-paced while others will have regular times to turn in assignments or attend lessons. So, while parked on your couch, bed, or even hospital bed, you can keep your mind engaged or gain skills that can help you when you return to work! For free!

Note: Classes are free but if you earn a certain grade and choose to get a certification, there may be a fee for the certificate.

If you choose to take a course, let us know which one you are taking and how it is going!

Happy Learning!
